Okay, hypothetical thread here:

What if through some miracle, we (being us 'holics, or Mr. D) obtained the rights to the Visitor and renewed the series. Now, let's say all the players were interested in returning EXCEPT John Corbett (which would be highly likely anyway). Who would you like to see as Adam MacArthur?

Keep this in mind: any flashback scenes to the original 13 would probably have to be reshot with the new actor, so take some of those 'flashback' scenes, and insert other actors (ie instead of trying to predict who would be good, just insert the actor into an existing scene and see if he could play it. Or if she could play it...)

I'd hogtie JC and tell him he HAD to play the role. ;-) No one else could do it. hehehe

(This was a plot; I know it was... LOL)

Fungus wrote:
> ...let's say all the players were interested in
> returning EXCEPT John Corbett (which would be
> highly likely anyway)

Fungus, this is the second time you've intimated that JC wouldn't be interested in returning to the show should the offer be presented to him. Care to 'splain your rationale on that issue?

I offer into evidence a few quotes that suggest he'd jump at the chance, provided he was available to commit to such a project:

"Up until he recently began doing interviews to plug "The Visitor," Corbett says he hadn't spoken to the press in about four years. After he signed on as the star of the Fox series, he agreed to speak to journalists because he felt so passionately about the project and badly wanted it to find a large audience." - Jon Matsumoto, LA Times, 9/14/97

"I've never felt more a part of a team. ...I'm happy to be here and interested in what we're doing. And I hope we'll be here awhile." - John Corbett, Starlog, January 1998

"...we know that we have a good television show that is quality from the music, to the acting, to the way it's lit. It's great." - John Corbett, Xposé Magazine, December 1997

"Just going to work every day on this show - with the nature of things that are going to happen - you get to do amazing technical things. Things I've never done before, and may never get the chance to do again. It's a great experience and I'm excited about going to work everyday, for the first time in a long time." - John Corbett, World of Fandom, Fall 1997

To answer the original question, JC *was* The Visitor; the role was written for him. I can't imagine any other actor playing that character. So that should sum up how I feel about bringing the show back without him. :o)

Sorry, Fungus - John Corbett IS "The Visitor" - no substitutions allowed!

You all fail. Sorry. Pat, read my post. HYPOTHETICAL.

Now, you may all take a re-test, because I love you all so much :]

Hypothetical questions require us to imagine something that has no basis in fact otherwise. So, I reiterate, I can't imagine any other actor playing Adam MacArthur than John Corbett. It's like trying to imagine Captain Kirk being played by someone other than William Shatner. There IS no substitute for either, period. JMHO. (I'd be willing to entertain replacement suggestions for the other characters on The Visitor, however.)

Now, how 'bout my question? It'd probably take an act of divine intervention (or one helluva mail campaign) to bring JC's character back to SATC next year, so the guy's probably available. Why the negativity that he wouldn't be interested in a reprisal role as The Visitor?

After what is fixing to be 12+ episodes of him this summer on SATC, I think I could even handle a short-haired MacArthur, believe it or not. ;o) (Don't hurt me Sher. LOL)

(I'd be willing to entertain replacement suggestions for the other characters on The Visitor, however.)

Pat, I hope you're not talking about the Three Amigos , I don't know who else could have that group dynamic [apart from the Three Stooges or the Hair Bear Bunch]

As for "another" McArthur, I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest Jason Behr [from seeing the Roswell episode "End of the World"] or Heath Ledger [appearance wise] for flashbacks.

Well...if they HAD to do it w/o JC....then I'd eliminate Adam MacArthur from it. Come up with a new abductee. Another from the Colony who had helped MacArthur escape the first time. Now that the Elders have released Adam, I suspect they'd freely let his "followers" on the Colony go as well. Find some other gorgeous guy and run it from a new POV, imho.

ROFL (for a change Fungus, you stirred the pot on that one. Corbett was excellent in The Visitor, and it probably wouldn't be quite the same without him, at least for most here. Just be sure to include some extras heehee

Hmm... I would want Gary Oldman to play Adam...

... hmm... then again, I still have never ever seen any episode of The Visitor, so I dunno who Adam is... and who is that JC guy you're talking about all the time?? ;o)

The fact of the matter is, they've already introduced a way in the series that Adam could 'switch bodies' if need be. So what if they were getting ready to start up the Visitor again, and someone else came to JC with the most incredible offer, he just couldn't refuse? And he signed a multi year contract before even being informed about the Visitor coming back to TV. So there. Now JC is totally unavailable.

And remember, I used the term "she"... be creative :]
