Sheri Gordon (Sheri)

Hey, who's dibs were on it first? (among the users that we know.) <BR> <BR>;-P

Actually, I believe it was sharifa's above :] Although Pat made the first bid, no? <BR> <BR>Doesn't matter though. As long as it's within the "inner circle". <BR> <BR>Once every 3 years, we will all gather and place our sacred John Corbett relics into the sacred John Corbett shrine. Video captures and other relevant scans will then be displayed on the sacred John Corbett website... <BR> <BR>;Þ

Nice to see that the sarcasm hasn't changed around here. <BR> <BR>As far as eBay is concerned, I *had* planned to snipe that tape from "fatpatpurple" at the last minute. (I don't know that user.) I'm on eBay at least twice a day so I saw it right after it was listed. But, once you start jawing about an item in a public forum, drawing other people's attention to it, you probably should <B>BID</B> on the freakin' thing too! This stakes your claim to the item, so when you later outbid anybody who might have bid after you, there's no hard feelings among those bidders that you may "know." <BR> <BR>That's my code of ethics on eBay, anyway. Everybody has their own "rules," however.

Good ethics, Pat. Anyway, I had your back covered. I figured "les viergs" or whoever was going to snipe you so I watched it on the last min. but you still had it, so congrats. Don't be tooo nice, and those cable lines has its advantages.

They would have had to put in one helluva big bid. My ceiling was 100 bucks LOL. <BR> <BR>I've done that in the past. Some things I will NOT lose, other things I let go 'cause it's just not worth it. This wasn't one of those things. ;o)

Will Finch (Shetan)

Good for you. I'm after a little something myself in The Patriot area and I think I've got it <IMG SRC="http://www.electric-ent.com/bbs/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":)">

No, although the Oliver costume was very neat, a little voice over my shoulder kept saying 'we don''t need it' besides its too large to wear. It seems to be a sought after bid though. But wouldn't that be an awesome conversation piece and display?! Those wardrobe people did such an excellent job. Got a different cap! What is the difference in, for example, "zone 4 DVD's" as opposed to where we live?

Agent Pat (Agentpat)

Too bad your little voice didn't pay me a visit as well... <BR> <BR>(I found myself sucked into fandom's wardrobe reality once too.) <BR> <BR>LOL

Shogun Shitake (F_U_N_G_U_S)

Zone 4 DVD? I thought they only went up to 3 zones?

Agent Pat (Agentpat)
11-11-2001, 12:35 AM
There are six DVD zones currently in use. They are as follows: <BR> <BR>1. USA, Canada, U.S. Territories <BR>2. Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East (including Egypt) <BR>3. Southeast Asia, East Asia (including Hong Kong) <BR>4. Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, Caribbean <BR>5. Former Soviet Union, Indian Subcontinent, Africa (also North Korea, Mongolia) <BR>6. China <BR> <BR>Since movies are released in different countries at different times and studios don't want DVDs on sale in a place where the movie has yet to enter theaters, they sometimes program codes to prevent certain discs from being played in certain places.

Once isn't too bad as far as the wardrobe is concerned. Thanks Pat and Auric for those picture perfect explanations!

Hmm... I think you have Japan too far east Pat. I hear a lot of complaints from DVD owners about not being able to play their region 3 Godzilla movies from Japan :] <BR> <BR>But thanks for the rest of the info!

Chris Ceraolo (Chris)

You need to switch 2 and 3 on that map- <BR> <BR>This I know the almost hard way-but hey the VHS copy of "Universal Studios Japan" was worth it. <BR> <BR>Chris

Agent Pat (Agentpat)

Um, folks, Japan is Region 2. Auric and I listed it correctly. Some sources: <BR> <BR>http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#1.10 <BR>http://www.cybertheater.com/News_Views/DVD_Japan/dvd_codes.html (click on "country codes") <BR>http://www.zdnet.co.uk/pcmag/labs/2000/06/dvd/15.html <BR>http://timefordvd.com/faqs/FAQsDVDBuying.shtml#RegionCode <BR>http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/subst/help/dvd-vhs-format-no-links.html/102-9612467-9215312#region_chart <BR>

Agent Pat (Agentpat)

I looked at another 10 or so websites. They're all saying Japan = Region 2. If folks are having problems playing Region 2 discs over there, I throw my hands up. Region 3 discs *shouldn't* be playable there. This is all according to over a dozen, unrelated websites with charts and regional information. [shrugs]

Out of curiosity, I was browsing thru reelclothes. and guess what I saw? The Mastadge costume (they called it a yak) from Stargate!!! Now wouldn't that be a hoot. Insert one Nova in it, put Cruiser on board and join the parade.Whahaha!

DOMIT. Thanks a lot AP, you probably told the whole world about the Oliver costume (jk, heehee)After debating it, scheduling some opportune OT, and planning on drinking water for a few weeks instead of Pepsi (hey, you have to sacrifice for the cause) decided to make a run for it and got sniped by some Col. shady Lamar. Must be nice to have more means. Was actually going to give it to my folks for Christmas, that way I'd still be able to enjoy it and The Patriot is one of the few DVD's they have. Live and learn and prepare. Guess my g-grandmothers old dress mannequin can stay where it is for now. Still have a headache :P On the plus side, did acquire Charlotte, luv ya back JoelyR<IMG SRC="http://www.electric-ent.com/bbs/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":)">woohoo!!!
