I've watched this series the last couple of weeks (it's first two weeks actually). Anybody else seen it? Anybody else notice the similarities? (not a lot of them, but a few, particularly in the general overtone of the show).

No. Firefly, which airs before it is sci-fi. Think "The Visitor" meets "The Pretender" (the Pretend Visitor?)

Are y'all too young to recognize the scene from JAWS that I quoted? Those are Quint's (Robert Shaw's) lines. ;o)

I thought it was wicked funny, but I liked Dennis Miller on Monday Night Football too, so...

(Yet another joke that will probably go over everybody's heads)

Dunno, but it likely has something to do with John Corbett in some shape, way or form. ;-)

Dennis Miller? No connection to JC that I am aware of. Miller was best-known for making statements that went, shall we say, a little over the average football fan's head. For example, he once used Dante's Inferno to analogize the probable outcome of a team with a pitifully poor spread going up against the prior year's Superbowl champs. My point? Well, you folks missed the JAWS analogy too, apparently. ;o)

Neeeeeoooooowwwwwww....

LOL

Zing zang zoom.

I understood both references :] (My mom is a huge Jaws fan, I had to buy her another tape the old one wore out, so I'm VERY familiar with the Jaws references).

As for Dennis Miller, the master of the machavelian one-liner. He delights in the fact that he can pull an obscure reference out of his hind-end, and people will laugh at it all the while not even beginning to comprehend what he said.

Ah, but the fun is in the comprehension. I'm glad *somebody* got it. Thanks Fungus! :o)

I miss Fungus already. Backing up to John Corbett, he was just in a tv movie, Court TV I think. I heard some laughing and sounds of "I see his butt" Was that a butt-double? Paaaaat? :-)
