Starz has just started advertising G-2000 for their upcoming movie schedule. The commercials say "It's not the size of the tail, it's what you do with it." Add insult to injury, all ad text is written in a very familiar GREEN font.

Grrrrrr....

[Big Godzilla roar is heard from the peanut gallery]

Agent Pat

Well, we'll have to wait and see what they can 'do with it'. ;-) They better watch their words cuz they may just have to eat them. The G-fans are a tough bunch to please.

Well a guy in a big rubber suit gives people plenty of material for comedy. Its usually done with nostalgic affection, some G-fans are simply a little too uptight.

Sincerely,
A g-fan who loves godzilla and still laughed at G's appearance in Pee wees big adventure.

Let along a hundred an eighty million.

I'd like to see SPIELBERG make a blockbuster with the money allotted for the average Japanese movie.;)

*A* (EAGERLY awaiting the opportunity to see GXM & GMK. LOVE that latest rubber suit)

Angillas-
Considering whos directing GMK, I think whether he spends 10 or 5 mil, it will be done with skill.
(I love Kaneko-can you tell?) I prefer Terminator to its sequel and I think Cameron made the first one for $35. Skill and storytelling(unheard of in days of Bruckheimer mentalities!)
But after GMK word to Toho-Give G a 5 year rest!
I used to love Star Trek but after 7+ films ANYTHING can get old!!!

Actually, Toho would have a 2-3 year rest, as 2004 is Big G's 50th birthday!

I caught it on Starz West late at night. I still maintain that there's nothing better than watching a giant monster movie in surround sound, no matter the quality of said giant monster movie.

But I did love the ability to change channels during the movie's 50 minute long Godzilla-less stretch. Not to mention the ability to mute things when the characters decide to speachify at the end of things.

And speaking of "the end," I distinctly remember some sort of cliched "The End?" graphic popping up in the theatrical version. But somebody must've edited it out for TV. Anyone else notice this, or I'm I really losing it?

the (The End?) was taken out for the T.V. one. So it wasn't just you.

I have the DVD

and they took out the "the end" for all the home video/cable/dvd releases. According to Mike Schlesinger (with the 'audio commentary' on), they wanted to give it a little 'throwback appeal', but somebody used the wrong font, and it looked dumb, so they ditched it in the releases. Yeah, right.

btw, he mentions the newsgroup a couple of times (and yes, he has posted there too) and even mentioned the argument that I started (and was the biggest 'opposition' of, the use of G98 roars).

Actually, I have the japanese(PU!) version and I didn't notice any difference in the roars(if anything it had more variety and sounded clearer) But one question remains-Will they ever get smart and re-use the g54/g85 roar?(Maybe GMK, I've heard there is a scene where godzillas roar breaks windows)

Yeah, and they were having trouble with the scene (the windows refused to break :]
