I've yet to see a trailer to this film! I envy those who have...

I have seen the poster though, which is a great spin on the old sci-fi films of the 50's.

So, what films have the trailers been attached to?

http://www.eightleggedfreaks.com (the trailer should be there online, assuming I got the url correct. I always try the most obvious one first :]

Haven't seen a trailer either, but been seeing commercials! Lame-o that I am, I'm still calling it Arac Attack. Heh heh. Somethings never change. My brother always said I was blonde on the inside.

Hey Lance!! Good to see you over here! Stick around!

Thanks, Egg! You know, this is one of the few boards that I've actually kept visiting since the day I signed up. And it's been a few weeks now.
I have stayed on for a number of reasons:

1. You guys are very kind, welcome, considerate and mature and that's rare.
2. I'm a big fan of Devlin/Emmerich films

Lance, stick around. We're all a pretty close knit bunch. Like a bunch of peas on a pod.

Don't I know it, Lance. It was a harsh awakening for me when I ventured out into other BBS worlds (like the Amityville one... oy vey) and discovered people in general are very rude!

Which film is your favorite? I have a VERY soft spot for Stargate since it was my FIRST Devlin/Emmerich film. Even though I have a mortal fear of even TEENSY spiders, I can't wait for ELF.

Will Finch (Shetan)

I'm with Goosie when it comes to Stargate, it is very spectacular, and is one of my favorites.

I apologize for being so rude to people sometimes. I do try not to be most of the time, but I think its just conditioned responses.

Ever stub the toes on your pod? Ouch.

Ah, well Stargate is a Sci-Fi classic. I appreciate it and love it.
Independence Day ditto. A Marvel to behold.
The Patriot: a historic masterpiece.

But my personal fave and the one that makes my jaw drop open everytime is Godzilla.
I really love this film and think it's very underrated. Actually I wouldn't say it's underrated by the general audience. According to my amateur studies, the general public loved Godzilla! A few fans of the original loved the new as well (but it seems like it's ONLY a few like myself) and there were quite a few respectable critics that gave it good reviews.
So yes, 1998 truly was the year of Godzilla and it only seems like yesterday.

And Will, I haven't read anything where you seem rude! Maybe some things people disagree on, but who doesn't disagree now and then!

You are all, in the words of Mickey Mouse "Swell"!

Thanks Sheri, just let me know. I'll tell you what, the next time my son gets to visit, I'll get him to bring his video camera and I'll send you a virtual ride. That should tide you over until whenever. Fasten your seatbelt! This is taking much too long to finish. Good Lord, its after 2, and I've been awake since 5pm Thursday. Sheesh. You'd think I was competing with Jag for "energizer bunny" status. Dommit. Lance, I couldn't agree more in your description of those movies. Wonderful all! I didn't see Godzilla in the theatre, but my boy did and he was on and on about it. I've thoroughly enjoyed the DVD, and it was only 9.44 at Wal-Mart. You know where I actually cringed? The part where the video camera got dropped or was broken. I know what you mean about the disagreeing. Send him a smooch, Fungus. zzzzzzzzzz

What it feels like to ride "The Black". I would cherish that video forever!!!

I did, thank you. Soon... I know from the Eight Legged Freaks trailer, there's going to be some motorcycle action in there. Only 20 more days! Can't wait. It's a lot the same feeling. Ask Pat. That free, wind in your face feeling.

Will, you nut!

I agree, Lance, Godzilla was fantastic. Had a LOT of sentimental value for me. I remember old avocado Godzilla from my childhood. I LOVED his grown up design.

I also liked the Lost in Space film (non-Centropolis though it was, still a fond memory from childhood.) Few people liked it. I really liked how they wrote Maurine. A woman of action rather than the "yes dear" I remember!

;)

Been finally seeing some ELF commercials (I guess it's all relative. You watch 1 hour of TV every two weeks, you're bound to miss most of the commercials ;] But it's good to hear 'Godzilla' mentioned on public TV again :]

no way! :]

I make a great gooseberry pie, using oregon gooseberries. And believe me, they ain't kiwi's! :]

Will Finch (Shetan)
07-05-2002, 11:17 PM
Are they similar to Blueberries or Dewberries?

Kiwi's are grown some around here too, but kinda have a mixed following. Some love them, others could do without.

Sheri Gordon (Sheri)

Kiwis taste a lot like strawberries. Good substitute for those who are allergic, like Starr is.

We have Saskatoon berries around here....a lot like a blueberry, only purple. Mmmmmmmmmmm. Speaking of which, it's about that time again to go pickin some wild ons. Now, if only I can find that "bob's road" we got lost on last time and came across that big bluff full of 'em!!!

(Btw, FYI, I ended up down some weird "bob's roads" today chasin a tornado thunderstorm cell that touched down about 5 miles northwest of me today. Woohoo!)

Will, they're totally different from blueberries :]

They look more like grapes (that light greenish/translucent skin), but have a totally different taste. Almost pear meets banana. It's hard to describe), but you can sometimes find them canned at the local grocery store...

Mike
07-07-2002, 10:26 PM
Yes Fungus, twisters ARE totally different from blueberries... Hey, wait a minute!!!!

Fungus, if your blueberries taste like that, they've gone off. You've kept the lid off too long. Chuck 'em.

Sheri's been drinking again...

I wanted to say something witty about blueberries and tornadoes, but it's 3am here, I've had about 4.5 hours sleep in the last 36 hours, I'm too tired to drink.

Hey, Sheri's been drinking again. Did I mention that...

OVERLORD (F_U_N_G_U_S)
07-08-2002, 01:10 AM
hmmm... apparently too tired to think straight when typing too.

But now that I spend a second to ponder it, I think the effort needed to drink right now is beyond my ability.

Did I tell you that Sheri's been drinking again? Wasn't sure if I brought it up.

Btw, how does 7up taste on rye bread? I prefer turkey and mayo with some cheese and tomato myself... but hey, whatever floats yer boat...

Will Finch (Shetan)

Sher, the best water I've ever had was lying down in a push up position across a stream, slurping right from the stream...right here in the USA!

Those twister pictures were cool! Stage 13 looked like a rat-tail. Stage 14 looked like it was from that movie with Pacino and Reeves. The 2nd funnel looked like an Eagle beak, and your storm clouds looked like the Eagles talons. 'Course, you had to use your imagination a bit.

I heard there is going to be some sort of special about Eight Legged Freaks on TV tonight. Has anyone heard any details?

I was looking at the latest issue of Nat. Geo. and saw an article on the Philippines. They had this very close up shot of a new species of monitor lizard's eye. My first thought...GODZILLA!

Sher, I got your "ride" done. It was quite a hoot actually. Do you have one of those adaptors for a VHSC? I have got to get a camera. Wonder if Sony would do 8 year financing on their MiniDVdigital? Got slapped in the head a few times by branches, but other than a lost cap, it wasn't too bad. Spooked a couple of deer, and then moments afterward, Nova just stopped. I couldn't get him to move, and then saw why as the grasses next to us started to move. Looked down and saw what I think was a rattler, his forked tongue "smelling" the air. He just looked up as if to say "Don't tread on me", but he wasn't coiled to strike, and then slithered off. Most (vid) came out OK except for a few minutes where I must have hit a wrong button and it blurred out. I think you'll enjoy it. :-)

Sheri Gordon (Sheri)

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I know I'll be giving that "movie" two thumbs up!!!!! )))))))))&#41 ;))))))))

What's an adaptor for VHSC, btw???

Kefla (Kefla)
07-13-2002, 01:05 PM
Just watched the trailer at eightleggedfreaks.com

I thought this wasn't "my kind" of movie, but ended up laughing out loud. It looks like I could easily join my kids in having fun with this one.

BTW, we've held dog shows with the 4-H kids at that abandoned shopping mall where part of the film was shot. Too funny!

Will Finch (Shetan)
07-14-2002, 06:49 AM
It IS a great trailer, Kefla. I'll be there on the 17th, and then again probably when my son gets back, he's wanting to see it too.

I hope the kids and the dogs left before the spiders got there. Those freaky spiders look like nothing to be messed with!

Sheri, the C tapes are about like 2 by 4 inches, which fits in the adaptor which looks like a VHS tape, allowing you to play in your VCR. Comprendez vous? I'll see if I can round you one up.:-)

Sheri Gordon (Sheri)
07-14-2002, 08:57 AM
Uhhh....okay. Oh, are those those wee little tapes for camcorders? I thought you was supposed to put them in the adapter to be able to make copies of them? Wouldn't you want to keep the master? :-)

Will Finch (Shetan)
07-15-2002, 07:18 AM
Yes. I thought they were just to view them, unless there's another type machine to play them??? That's OK, don't have time right now, this weeks going to be buuuuusy. You can send it back if you wish. I have to try to win a prize on Jag's ELF chat thing, An Electric movie to see, my lil Sis gave me free tickets :-) to a soccer match, a volunteer/training session for S.C. Birds of Prey (thats going to be so cool, Eagles, Hawks, Ospreys, even Buzzards) NOT to mention all the normal stuff, besides, the exercise was good for both of us, I think I'll do it again with a better machine (I forgot to show you Heath's flying dismount too) :-)
