Hi, this is my first time writing into this forum, although I have listened into what was written, never had the courage to write. I have been a fan of Dean's since Indepenence Day came out, I can't begin to even count how many times I have sat and watched Godzilla with my boys. My youngest had "godzilla fever" and till this day I come across something or another that was bought for him.
I have kept track of the movies being made by Dean and Roland for a couple of years now. When I found out that "eight legged freaks" was being made, I was quite excited since I am familiar with the areas of Arizona that the movie was filmed in. I used to go to the mall that was in the movie as a child. Since the movie was filmed, it is now an empty lot, all that is left is a couple of trash bins.
I bought the tickets yesterday afternoon, and eagerly waited for it to begin. My boys are 8 & 10,we all loved it. But, what I appreciate most about your movies Dean, is that I don't have to worry about nudity and not too much cursing, all of your movies are kid friendly and fun. Although I worried when I noticed brief sexuality in the warning box. I was relieved when I realized there was nothing to worry about. And that, what was shown was funny to the adults and I am guessing the kids didn't even get. But, from all those that were in the theater with my boys and I, I would say about 30- 35 people, I sensed all really liked it. You made a really fun movie.
Thanks alot for the good time. Keep up the great work.

Sorry ta rag on ya, Dean. Didn't realize the movie came out there a day before it did here.

http://www.wireimage.com/GalleryListing.asp?navtyp=CLB&str=7806&sty p=clbi&nm=Dean+Devlin

Just got back from seeing ELF myself. It was only playing in one theatre here. Movie was good. I wasn't as creeped out as I thought I'd be! *squashes speeder* It wasn't that bad...really. *slams fist against another speeder* I was actually able to watch the whole movie without once hiding my face in Scott's shoulder...*squishes another speeder*....well, except for once, when that guy sucked all them speeders up through the water hose...eewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!

Oh, and Dean, tell Leon he ROCKED!!!!! I loved him in this movie. Say "Hi" to him from his Visitor fans. Leon is SUCH a cool guy. It was good to see him get good air time in this movie.

After the movie, Mother Nature had a show all her own to put on. I think she was trying her best for Twister 2. Being panned as "The Summer Storm of 2002" we got hit with a big boomer storm that left streets flooded, tornado warnings abounded, some places got hailed out with baseball sized hail (How come I never get to see those?? I only ever see the pea-sized stuff, drat!). It was an adventure trying to get back to Starr's place to pick my kids up, I tells ya!!! Had to drive around a few flooded streets, up to the car's doors. Egads!!! I know my station wagon is big enough to be called a boat sometimes, but please, not literally! (Now if we still had our old Plymouth Valiant, now THAT car could float, fly and drive. hehehe Poodles? We were the poodle emptying committee. *grin*)

S'posed to be another scorcher tomorrow, with more boomers likely to develop. What a great movie! Yes siree Bob, most enjoyable! The music was outstanding, the spiders were the most realistic ones I've seen. Congrats to Electric and everyone involved. Ellory (yes, I got New Zealand right) has done a great job directing. There was quite a good crowd there considering it was the matinee showing, I imagine the evening shows had quite a crowd. Can't wait to go again, BTW, when is the DVD coming out? I don't generally "jump" in a movie, but did in a few places. All acting was well done, Josh made the perfect spider-farm guy!Loved the relations to other movies - Leon's line, If you build it, they will come - for example. There was a nice ad in our local paper that had coincidently right above it another ad with the words -better aim than a bow and arrow- got a jolt from that - and was sure glad Sheriff Sam had such a good aim. Was glad Leon was rescued from his entanglement, we were saying, Oh no he dies in this one too, and were just relieved. Doug E Doug as Harlan was just great. I could EMBELLISH on and on about this movie, Oh, and thanks for the nightmares, My-Ra dreamed of spiders and woke up in a sweat. Something about mannequins in mine. Whaaaaaaa! Good Job!

I loved the wacko DJ in the trailer setup. Kinda brought back STRONG memories of Teufelsnacht.

Speaking of Music... be sure to catch the AWESOME version of "Itsy Bitsy Spider" that was played during the end credits at JoeyDeluxe.com

The "Cat" scene had me in stitches -- and loved the "jumping" spiders -- period -- bar none.

Also enjoyed some of the gestures the spiders did -- especially the one that crashed into the diner's window and ended up on what was it? the elk? on the wall?

Stayed for the end credits and got into the JoeyDeluxe track. Also, quite touching to see Don Devlin's name...

-=JAG!

I didn't get to see much of the credits, alas. Men are always in such a hurry to leave after a show! (At least mine is anyway) But I did hear the Itsy Bitsy Speeder song, and how fitting, considering the weather that awaited me outside after the show. ;-) (see my comment above)

OK...I skipped some of my mechanics class yesterday to go see it. Aren't I bad? hehehe

The theatre wasn't packed like it was for ID4, but there was a nice diverce croud. I have to confess I was a little concerned about this film. I was very woried that it was going to be overly silly, even bordering on stupid. In a way, it was. I was very concerned of the opening scene where the talking lips poped up...I got to thinking, what am I about to see here? How am I gonna post if I don't like this film? I mean, the spiders kept making silly noises, and the characters kept doing grade A stupid things, like entering buildings covered in giant cob webs. But everything went smoothly. The talking lips immedeately became a goof ball on a radio show, doing some spoof on aliens. It became it's own joke, in just the nic of time. The film seemed to be constantly laughing at itself, and this in and of itself created a very informal atmosphere within the theatre. People were yelling at the characters, and making silly comments, and no one was sushing..everyone was thouroghly enjoying themselves.

This was definately a very enjoyable film, that knew what it as, and what it wasn't. I am going to have to see it again, simply cause of all the snide remarks between characters in the film that I missed(in particular the one that the lady made about her son's gotee). I have to say, I think this was one of the better commidies I have seen, as it seemed to suck you in...it was a film that you were safe as an audience member to get involved with. The atmosphere of the film seemed to envellop the theater.

Yes, that's one thing I noticed and will say....the "home" environments of the characters in this movie are very realistic. Very believable. Specially loved the orange juice jug. Boy, does that look like gramma's house or what?

Awwwww don't feel bad, Mikey. I know how it feels. Canada's usually slow to get things too. I was amazed we got it this early. I'm still waiting for Pat's Big Fat Greek Wedding one around here. Doubt it ever will make the rounds in theatres here. :-\
