for auto racing movies! "The Fast and the Furious" took in $42 million this weekend. "Driven" did extremely well also.

Looks like I better get my online drag racing project completed and ready to pitch to prodcos. Talk about franchisability! *hint hint Dean..get it while ya can hehehe* And I know we could get the NHRA (www.nhra.com) involved. Big time.

"The Quick Life" a.k.a. Season of Speed. Written by yours truly. Catches all those muscle car fans that those 'Fast and Furious' rice rocket drivers picked on. ;-P

I hear ya dude. I KNOW what the racers wanna see. They've been dying to see it since the last one came out back in '77. (Fast Company) Hell, *I* wanna see another decent racing/hot rod movie. And one that doesn't make street rodders look like a bunch of criminals! Sheesh, what a false image.

The Quick Life will have lots of eye candy and awesome tunage. From the Top Fuel funny cars and dragsters, to the street driven muscle cars...and a few exhibition vehicles too, such as the jet dragsters. (All used within the context of the story, of course) *droool*

Will......lotsa horses. About 2000 of 'em. ;-) (under the hood, of course. heehee)

Jag...mebbe we can use you as a flagman that gets run over? ;-)

How dare you doubt me ;-) Sounds cool.

Speaking of horses, I just read in Nat. Geo. where Marco Polo reported on his trips to China that Kublai Khan received as a gift "more than 100,000 white horses very beautiful and fine"

Also heard Spielberg has ironed out his differences with his neighbors and has redesigned his equestrian center to everyone's liking

back to cars, I have a scoop for you but I daren't put it here. check elsewhere.

Sheri... "Driven" bombed out big time...

But that could be due in part to Sly Stallone's involvement...

'Furious' box office success baffles insiders
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Talk about a Sunday surprise. When word spread that Universal Pictures' "The Fast and the Furious" earned $40.1 million this past weekend - more than doubling its predicted opening take - Hollywood's box office analysts, studio executives and even Universal's own top brass tried to grasp what had happened. How does a film with no latent star power, a relatively small $38 million budget and few promotional tie-ins break the $40 million barrier in three days? And how were estimates by "the experts" off by nearly $20 million? "People were talking last week that 'The Fast and the Furious' could be a sleeper hit, but nobody had any idea it could perform at this level," Exhibitor Relations Co. president Paul Dergarabedian said. "Clearly, the tide changed, something clicked, and you wound up with a tidal wave at the box office."

Like duhhhhh. It's what I've been trying to tell studio execs all along.

Fast cars SELL!! Why do you think they hold annual Cruise Weekends all over the nation? Why they are so HEAVILY attended? Why do guys tune in to NASCAR every weekend?

I tell ya...the whole hot rod/cars mentality sells. I know a good many people who would give their eye teeth just to see some good movies.

Driven bombed but not Fast and Furious. I SOOOO want to see that. It's all Fungie's fault. He told me to watch Iron Giant, now I'm a Vin Diesel junkie... I learned about FaF last year and when Perry and I went to see Crouching Tiger, I knew the instant the promo started and I slapped him in the arm whispering "We gotta go see this!!!" At the scene with the Charger (I'm guessing here that y'all have seen the commercials...) he stood up and said "YESSSS!" It was hysterical. "Perry, it's ONLY a preview..."

He's still sulking that his wife wouldn't let him keep my grandmother's Coronet 440.

What a great man, and I am so happy to see this film doing well-he was a trip! He also directed Dragonheart, and survived "Dragon:The Bruce Lee Story"

Chris
The FOX plant

You go girl!

If I had had the time, I would have created and posted that picture. My Co. (well...the one I work for) sponsored an Indy car a couple of years ago. Placed up there pretty good a few times. They brought it to a Co. picnic once. It was all I could do not to jump right in there and fire it up. They are surprisingly compact, but man can they hug.
