In a word: WOW!

Things I was impresased with: Most everything.
I'd talk about everything I liked, but by the time I was done, I'd be COAL.

Things I would have liked to see done slightly differently: The armour. Specifically, Gimli and Frodo's armour. Gimli's helm just looked... CLUNKY and frodo's byrnie just didn't look like maille to me.
The Nazgul. Maybe bits of CGI smoke and bits of cloak drifting away from their persons and dissapating?

I had to work hard to think of NEGATIVE comments about This one.

Too often recently, I've seen Movies that claimed to be masterpieces, only to falter badly when seen.
This one far, FAR exceeds it's publicity and my expectations.

My rating? Twelve out of Six Stars.
*********& #42;**

Mebbe I can shed some light on this:

Strange thing: In the original English version (both the book and the movie) it's the "Elves". In the (crappy) German translation, it's "Elben", which is rather confusing because there's also "Elfen" in fantasy stories here. So at first everybody thought there's "Elben" and "Elfen", like Arwen is an "Elf", and the other's are "Elben"... or something like that... really confusing...

Also, the German word for 11 (eleven) is "Elf"...

And guess what's the river called that runs through Hamburg? ... "Elbe"... :-]

(Lil' side note: I really loved the movie... thinking about watching it a third time... also reading the book now... :-) )

Yes it does, Sheri!

Thanks Auric, haven't seen it yet, but it looks like a go for the next week. Well I did see Ocean's "Elf" which was good.

While you're translating, tell me what does Welkom bij mean? oooooohhhhhh.

Rings I'm sure I'll enjoy. I believe it was Muhammad Ali who said "The man who has no imagination has no wings".

Auric, have you ever skied down the Elbe??? If I ever go to Germany, I want to see the Stubben showroom/factory! They make some mighty fine saddles and tack.

err... hehe... "Ocean's Eleven" was named "Ocean's Eleven" here, too... they've become lazy I think... they usually don't translate the titles anymore...

But what about "Ocean's Elven"? Anyone heard about that new fantasy film? ;o)

"Welkom bij"?? Don't think that's German... or if it is, it must be a really strange dialect... ;)
Sounds a little bit like "Welcome beach" to me, which doesn't make too much sense either...

Hmm... I never skied down the Elbe. Never skied ever actually...
Not sure what you mean with that "Stubben showroom/factory"... :-]

Excellent craftsmanship!! Before L.oftheR. and The War, I believe it was Elijah Wood who was in one called Paradise with Don Johnson filmed near here at a place we refer to as "the end of the world" Rockville. The little church is where my litl-un was Baptised. The children in Paradise used to play frisbee in the side yard singing "Edelweiss" JK, but they did play frisbee.
