Dean,

I understand that you and Roland will be developing movies through your production company, but are you contracted with any particular studio now for releasing the films?
I thought that I had seen that Arac Attack is being distributed through Sony, but what about this new film you and Roland are making?

Thanks,

Justin

~Last new project I heard of coming from the dynamic duo of Dean and Roland is an Italian themed heist-scam-triple cross kind of flick with some sort a romance woven in for the babes in the audience ?, I don't know all the names attached to it but it does come with the blessing of The Sting's creator, the classic movie that teamed up Redford and Newman for a 2nd time.~

Ciao !

Currently Electric Entertainment has not locked in a Domestic studio partner. We're still working independently of the studio system. That said, we have projects set up at Sony, Fox and Warner Brothers.

Our next (and first) film will be ARAC ATTACK, which is a Warner Brothers/Village Roadshow co-production.

The Cyber Love Story that Ron Bass is currently writing is set up at Sony.

-Dean Devlin

You say "Domestic studio partner". Does that mean within USA? Have you tried studios outside of USA?

Canada is having a film industry BOOM right now ya know.... ;-)

Sheri-

Domestic partners help with things like distribution worldwide-

An example-

Crouching Tiger had a Chinese Distributor-and a US one...it just works better for the production-not saying that there aren't Canadian ones, but Canadian is more production than distribution-right Dean?

Then why do they call 'em "domestic"?

domestic as in 'in that country'. So North American domestic distributors help to distribute the film in North America, and European Distributors help to distribute all over Europe. Get it? It's not 'domestic' as in where the movie came from, but as in where the distributor resides/will distribute the movie.

uuukay

But don't studios finance the production of films, not merely distribute them? IOW, if you can't a domestic studio to financially back something, what about going abroad?

because the distribution rights differ from country to country, so you MUST get a 'domestic' company to distribute it.

1] It helps to avoid a monopoly on the film by one distributor
2] That domestic distributor knows all the legalities of when/where, etc. the film may be shown. An american company might not know, and thus get in trouble.

Sounds like things are working well for you guys, but working initially outside the studio system like you did with Stargate doesn't sound like it's anything new for you guys.

Is there any chance that the film you have set up at FOX right now might have something to do with a little movie you and Roland did called Independence something or other? He, he.
Can't help but ask...

Thanks,

Justin
