Dean, I just wanted to know if Roland and you were looking to produce and develop 'The Mark' anymore. I remember reading about it being a project that you guys were talking to Will Smith about, but haven't heard it mentioned for some time now. Is this film still on your slates?
Thanks,

Justin

Sorry folks. As much as I wish it were so, I am but a lowley employee of an internet company here is Utah. I worked in film for 3 years when I first moved out here in the Art Department mostly, and did some props work. The last film I worked on was Galaxy Quest while it was filming out here for 2 months in Goblin Valley.
My interest in Dean and Roland and their projects comes from way back when they did Universal Soldier. My boss that I worked for out here in Utah was part of the film crew (even in the credits as Lead Man for Utah) while Dean and Roland filmed the scenes for Independence Day here in Utah. I missed working on that one by just a couple months, but my boss always talked about how great the experience was and how good Dean and Roland were.
I only get a chance to drop by the site every now and then to shoot a question to Dean. I don't mean to be a snob and not get involved much in the online chats, but I'm usually working too much to stick around for long.
I am also doing independent film projects on the side, and I left the film profession simply because it's hard to work 6 days a week 12+ hours a day and have any family life.
I am and will always be a complete film geek though. We're all cut from the same cloth.
Hopefully one of these days I'll be able to sick around longer and get to know some of you.
Sorry to spoil the mystery...
Justin

Well, THE MARK, is actually being developed at OVERBROOK, Will Smith's company. We were involved for a while, but they've moved on. I don't know how active the project is over there, but they're a great bunch of people and I'm confident it will be handled well. It's a terrific project and I wish it well.

Justin, glad to have you here whenever you can make it!

Happy belated Independence Day!

-Dean Devlin

I was right Sheri! teehee... oh, btw, my monitor went the way of the dodo so I can't do anything from my computer (ANYTHING! at least last time it was just internet. Now I don't have a monitor at all, and I had a good job going too, would've covered a months rent! Argh!)

Well, sorry Justin!

It was just the fact that you asked "perfect" questions, and Dean recently only responded to your posts. So I thought there was a conspiracy goin' on again... I'm thinkin' too much... ;)

No problem Auric. I'm just happy to hear that my questions come across as understandable. Also, in all my time as a film fan, I've never seen a place provided by the filmmakers for their fans to actually have a chance to ask them direct questions. Let alone actually get answers. You're the best Dean... truly a trailblazer.

See ya all around...

Hey Justin!

To me, all your questions came across very understandable, and I guess that's the reason why I thought of a conspiracy, because normally people here sometimes talk in a rather incomprehensible way... (I'm German, ya know... :o))

Yep, true. I think A place like this is unique, as are the people here. :-]

Looking forward to seeing you around.

Actually, more & more in Movieland are developing Web sites like this one. Project Greenlight is one of them: Developed by Miramax, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon & Chris Moore. I was one of 7000 screenwriters opting for a shot at their HBO special & development of my screenplay into a movie. Anyway - Check it out sometime. Sorry Dean, didn't mean to rain on your parade.

By the way, I'm Laura's sis.

This is koo -- More hollywood ppl/companies takin on the web trail.

But guess Dean knew this all along. Imagine the world without the web. I've been lucky to have corresponded with people I never thought I'd ever be able to -- Dean being one of them. Guess Miramax and others are realizing the fans be important too. Kudos to 'em!

>Actually, more & more in Movieland are developing >Web sites like this one.

-=JAG!
