In the latest special edition of Cinescape (I'm a subscriber, so I don't know if it's hit the newsstands yet), Dean & Roland were the 42nd listing in the list of the 100 most powerful people in genre entertainment 2002.

Here's the top 10:

10. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Warner Bros. prexy of World Wide Production)
6. Jeffrey Katzenberg (the "K" in Spielberg and Geffen's DreamWorks SKG)
5. John F. Antioco (Blockbuster Video Chairman and CEO)
4. Shigeru Miyamoto (Nintendo Director and GM of Entertainment Analysis and Development)
3. Wait until you see: Godzilla:Destroy All Monsters Melee this fall. It's the only reason to consider getting a GC (which is in third place right now).

GC in third place as of now is correct, but for how long? Actually there are many good reasons on getting a Gamecube.
1. It's a work of Art! Yes the little Cube is cute and cuddly...ok it's not cuddly, but actually Nintendo did a great job on making their game machine look like nothing seen before on the gaming scene...well except if you consider dice a gaming platform. It comes in multi-colors, and is the smallest and most compact as well as silent gaming machine. No jet sounds out of this little sucker.

2. Ok if you don't like the looks, here are the REAL reasons on getting a GC.
Star Wars Rogue Leader! Just like the movie, only interactive.
Better versions of PS2 games, liky Tony Hawke Pro Skater 3, Bloody Roar: Primal Fury, Spider-Man, ect.
Resident Evil
Star Fox Adventure
Super Smash Brothers: Melee
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee
Legend of Zelda
Mario Sunshine
Medal of Honor
Metriod Prime
Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 and 2

The list goes on.
Nintendo might not be leading now, however the big N hasn't pulled all its rabits out of their hats yet.

Not to diss X-Box or PS2 (of which are both awesome gaming systems) but they have already shown their big games for this year. Nintendo is just getting started, and will keep dishing out big titles all the way into next year.

While N64 was a HUGE flop and disappointment (for me at least) I find the Gamecube to be really cool. It may not play DVD's, but it sure can dish out the gaming expierance.
