Woohoooo!! Starr's gonna be happy about that one. *grin* Me, I can't wait to see what Dean's original ideas were! (I still haven't watched the TV series at all....felt kinda bad about it being taken away from it's original creatores...being an artist, I can sympathize with that....but it'll be great to see the original trilogy in movie form!!!)
Yes, Dean, please do keep us informed on developments on this!

Great!!
Any idea yet which companies will be involved in the VFX on the show? ;)
I'd vote for Kleiser-Walczak! :)

I will do them all myself, using nothing but crayons and construction paper. It will take me 23 years to complete, but it will be more realistic than Weta and ILM combined!

Better get started then, Mark. Maybe you'll be able to finish them all before the scripts get through development hell. hehehe

I asked Dean some time ago for rough description of what his story arc would have been and he quite handily sidestepped the question.. Now I know WHY. ;)
That's assuming the article is accurate, that is..

Well I got the call last night and made the announcement to my boys (14 & 13) at camp.
I am surprised you all did not hear them hooting and hollaring all the way from the AF base.
(They almost got in trouble for making so much noise in the barracks, thank goodness the person who caught them is a Stargate fan too!)
Happy Fans all around.
PLEASE keep us updated on the details Dean.
Fans young and old wanna know.

My only comment on whom ever gets chosen for the FX is please try to keep it true to the first one. Expanding on them is great but there are certain effects that are now concidered "Stargate effects".
For example Ra's guard's helmets are a LEGEND. They have to stay true to form, if not slightly updated as new tech allows.
(it has been a couple of years!)
The Big Baddie's eyes MUST glow with that unholy light.
and the Stargate itself MUST have that amazing shimmering pool to it that just begs you to step through while taking your breath away at the same time.
As for actors it would be great to get Russell and Spader BUT if not there is always RDA and Shanks.
(Yes, I admit I am a sucker for RDA/Jack in full dress blues.)
If you return to Abydos, it would be great to see Erick Avari (Kasuf) and Alexis Cruz (Skaara).
OK I think I have added my more than 3 cents worth here.
Just ask Sheri, I could go on for hours!
OK I admit it "I AM A STARGATE JUNKIE"

OK For the record I HAVE seen the show.. I own most of the seasons of SG-1 and Atlantis.
I DO feel bad that it was stolen away like it was BUT It was such a wonderful Movie that it HAD to make for a great series, and it has.
If it had not been for the amazing Movie these series would not have existed, and Sci fi fans would all be the poorer for it.
What I wish, YES I wish Dean was still in control of the series. Things happen that can not be controlled and one must make the best of things and go on.
Will I stop watching the series? Heck no.
Will I be buying advance tickets for opening night and begging to be an extra in the movie... HELL YEA!!

Indeed she is! *rolls eyes and chuckles* :D At least if the movies get made, I won't feel bad watchin the tv series, because at long last, the original artist will have had their chance to complete the work.

This is a dream come true for me. I loathe and despise the show, and hate how it has not only distorted Devlin's storyline ideas, but attempts to link the show and the vastly superior film together as one. This is total and complete nonsense!! I hope the new films are a VALID CONTINUATION of the film, which SG-1 was not. I hope it includes NOTHING from the show, and hires the original actors, who played the roles MUCH better then that b*tch-a$$ RDA and his dumb sidekick Shanks.
