Let me start by saying am a big fan of your work, having said that I am a little irritated by your lack of interest doing the battletech/mechwarrior movies. You are sitting on the rights to movies that could rival Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. If you used the Warrior trilogy and the Blood of Kerensky trilogy, all written by Michael A. Stackpole you could make 6 very good movies. I personally have been waiting almost 20 years for someone to make these movies. Please reconsider your other projects and create this one. If nothing else read these books: Warrior: En Garde, Warrior: Riposte, Warrior: Coupé, Lethal Heritage: Blood of Kerensky Volume 1, Blood Legacy: Blood of Kerensky Volume 2, and Lost Destiny: Blood of Kerensky Volume 3. though there are other other good books by Stackpole there ones tell the best parts of the battletech story. Thank you for your time.

Often times it's not in their hands to decide what projects get the green light and which ones are still in development hell. Be patient. If they can be made I'm sure they will be. There's lots involved in getting a project going than what may seem on the surface.

Rival Star Wars or LotR? I doubt it, but it's got to be better than "Robot Jox" :p

OK, just to clear things up. There was short period of time, a few years ago, that Electric had the rights to do a Mech Warrior movie, which we tried to set up at Paramount Pictures, where we had a deal at that time. Paramount decided that it wanted to do the Transformer movie and pulled the plug on the Mech Warrior project.

Time cut to today...Now we're trying to get the rights back again and to revitalize the effort to turn Mech Warrior into a feature film. If you're a fan, keep your fingers crossed. If we get the rights back, we hope to be shooting a Mech Warrior movie by the end of the year!

More news on Mech Warrior soon....

and now that Transformers has gone to dreamworks, Paramount might be more eager to work on this project again.

Well, actually, Dreamworks is owned by Paramount, so they're kind of the same thing now. But it doesn't matter. If we get the rights back, this time we'll do it completely independently so we won't rely of a studio's "green light".

Fingers crossed,

-Dean Devlin

Neat. Crossing fingers here.

I know it will kick butt when it's ready. I found this site by googling Mechwarrior movie, because the idea for it popped into my head and I thought to myself, "That's gotta be in development!" Glad to see someone with a great track record is on it!

I'm 37 and am a recent junkie of the Battletech/MechWarrior story after reading almost the exact list of novels listed earlier in this thread. I would love to see a movie and hope you get the rights again to do so. Anybody know the status of Devlin's pursuit to do this?

Crossing fingers.

Still waiting, though I'd settle for a television series like Stargate or Battlestar at this point.
