The gals and I...gals being me, my mom, my sister Angie (my very pregnant younger sister), and my cousin Natasha enjoyed a gal's night out at a John Corbett Band concert on Thursday at a place called The Pump Roadhouse in Regina, Sask. It was a quaint little country bar, not a whole ton of people, nice enough to be cozy. The lighting was fairly dark though so it was hard to get decent pictures. I managed to get a couple while he was on stage. He put on a great show, and he sure knows how to make great eye contact with everyone in the crowd. It sure felt like he was looking right into my eyes at times, but I'm sure he was doing that with everyone at the show. hehehehe I was about 10ft or so away from him.
He was of course being his typical flirty self with the young thangs right in front of the stage. One made a sign "We love you John" so of course he got a big kick out of that and held it up for the crowd to see, "lookie here guys, I have my own sign!!!" hehehe So after he did that, a few more signs quickly got made. LOL!!!
He welcomed the crowd, made a comment to welcome "the hundred or so ladies that came to see me, and the 9 very smart guys....." hehehe IOW, the guys came cuz they knew it would be a show full of drooling women, hoping they could score. hehehe
He buzzed his hair short about 2 weeks ago he mentioned, but he thought we'd appreciate the "Aidan" look. Me, I liked it better long, but ah vell. I didn't get to "see" Adam MacArthur dammit. ;-)
He dedicated one of his songs to "all the moms out there". To intro the song, he asked for a show of hands, how many moms out there. Well, the bass player pointed out my very preggers sister Angie. John commented..."wasn't I in town about 9 months ago??" LOL He made a lot of comments along those kinds of lines throughout the show, to various people or over various things. He knows he's a ladies man. Oh, and apparently he was in Regina the day before and spent the night partying out at a bar called The Freehouse. He likes Regina, he said, he filmed one of his movies there, so he likes coming up to Canada.
After the show he came out to hang out. I managed to squeeze in a turn in line to have him sign my CD and take a picture with him. When I was waiting in line, he looked at me, winked and smiled. When my turn finally came, I leaned in to tell him what a great show he put on. (It was loud in the bar, had to yell into his ear really close like.) He "awwwwwww!!"'d and smiled, truly appreciating the comment. Then I made the dummy mistake of mentioning his old website and then he clammed right up, mumbled something about didn't know what I was talkin about then changed the subject, "what's your name?" as he was signing my CD for me. Then he posed for a picture, although I could tell by that point the website thing unnerved him a little. hehehe Ah vell. But I could tell he was "enjoing the view" he got from way up there and me way down here, if'n ya know whatta mean. ;)
We didn't stay long after we got the autograph. It was already after midnight, they went on stage late (guess he was too busy getting sloshed up. They had a whole tub full of beer and booze on stage with them, which they frequently drank from. hehehe His guitar broke a coupla strings, but he managed to wing things through in between that. Seems his guitar also has a big booboo on the side, apparently couple shows back, he handed it off to what he thought was his roadie behind him but it wasn't. LOL Dunno who he gave it to, but it got beat up a bit.
Whew! Okay, I think that's the skinny. hehehe Now I can finally say I've met John Corbett! :-P Pictures attached.
