My dear friends, I write with great sadness to say that last night we buried my dear old canine companion, Roxy, who has been with us for ten good years, since puppyhood.
Roxy loved everyone that she met and had an extreme devotion to her human family, especially me. Unfortunately, it was this extreme devotion that led to her early demise. When we arrived home last night after working for a couple hours at the racetrack, we found Roxy still secure in her new chain link enclosure, but, with a broken jaw and much blood loss. :-( She had such a bad case of separation anxiety that the pain didn't phase her as she tore at the heavy chain link fence, trying desperately to get out to come to the house where she thought I would be. The fence wouldn't give, but her jawbone did. We couldn't bear to see her suffering and by morning she would have lost so much blood that she would have been terribly weak as she couldn't eat or drink and she was losing a lot of blood and there was no way to fix how badly it was broken. We took her to rest at the farm where she loves to go hiking and riding with me so much. She is buried on a hill near the riding arena, so she can always run free in one of her most happiest of places.
I will always remember and love you, my dear friend!
