Are there still plans for a mechwarrior movie? Last I heard, Electric Entertainment still had the rights for this and there was a lot of buzz when that happened, and then... nothing.
Is there any progress on this at all, or is it lingering on a shelf somewhere, gathering dust?
For whatever it's worth, I think Battletech/Mechwarrior is too big for a theatrical venue. It seems like the story would be better served as a TV mini-series where it can have the time to really develop.

I, too, am curious about the state of a Battletech/Mechwarrior movie. I've wanted one for years, and now seems like a great time to capitalize on the popularity of movies like Transformers.

I would disagree with you on this. Yes, the Battletech/Mechwarrior saga is too big for a theatrical movie, however the Battletech/Mechwarrior universe is a perfect setting for a movie. It could be a stand alone movie that leads into a TV mini-series that then expounds the backstory...or vice-versa. Either way, get on it people.

Really. Make the movie guys. You sould have been working on this since 2003, but I haven't heard anything about its progress since then. There is a fan-made movie in the making. Don't let these stupid trekkies ruin my dedication to BattleTech with some cheaply slapped-together movie. I think that if there is an issue with the popularity of the BattleTech universe, it will solve itself as soon as the movie's trailer smacks general theatre-goers in the face. Giant robots aren't a widely used movie genre, but that could be a good thing. It's something people will watch and not say: "I think they're running out of ideas..." So make those people eat their words and finish this movie!
P.S. BattleTech is not dead. I played mechwarrior all my life and still do. And surprise: I'm not an old fart! I'm 17 and I love everything about this universe. I swear to you guys on my life that this movie will take off, whether it is currently demographically logical or not. Most Sci-Fi movies do I would think; not that this wouldn't stand apart from the rest in all its giant robot glory.

Just remember that this movie will NOT be a "giant mech movie". It will be a human drama that periodically dips into giant mech action, but that won't be the focus of the movie (if it even ever gets made, which is unlikely at this point as the property has gotten cold. Maybe if Microsoft makes a new game, for PC and Xbox360 that totally rocks, it'll revitalize, but otherwise, it's old news now).

Yes a Mechwarrior movie would be a perfect film setting, and with a good director and decent budget could become quite popular. Over at Mechwarrior Leagues everyones been hoping for a movie for a long time, with the game on its last leg and not alot of hope of a sequal.
