I'm not sure if this has been posted, but I found it on Dark Horizons:

Director Roland Emmerich ["Independence Day"] is in talks to produce & direct Sony's "Alien Prison" from "Air Force One" writer Andrew Marlowe. 'Prison' is said to follow "six humans with little in common other than having been abducted, studied and torturously experimented upon by an alien race in another solar system. After years of abuse, they plot an escape and attempt to foil a full-scale invasion of Earth.

Here's the original article as printed in Daily Variety. And yes, it sounds MIGHTY familiar! ;o)

Emmerich's warden of Col's 'Alien Prison'
By CLAUDE BRODESSER and JONATHAN BING
March 20, 2002

Roland Emmerich's hatred of unfriendly extra-terrestrials seems to have gotten the better of him once more.

The director of such alien thorax-kicking pics as "Godzilla" and "Independence Day" is in negotiations to helm and produce "Alien Prison" at Sony's Columbia Pictures, for which he last directed 2000's "The Patriot."

Pic has gestated for years at the studio, but a most recent draft by Andrew Marlowe -- who penned Sony pics "Air Force One" and, most recently, "Hollow Man" -- looks to have caught the helmer's interest at last.

"Alien Prison" follows six humans with little in common other than having been abducted, studied and torturously experimented upon by an alien race in another solar system. After years of abuse, they plot an escape and attempt to foil a full-scale invasion of Earth.

Produced by Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher's Sony-based Red Wagon Prods., project is being overseen by exec VP of production Doug Belgrad and creative exec Jonathan Kadin; both are reporting to production prexy Peter Schlessel, who is supervising the pic's progress.

Emmerich is repped by Creative Artists; Marlowe by William Morris.

Sounds like a good scifi flick.
It reminded me of the Vis - that's all.

Hey, something just occurred to me... what if this IS a movie based on The Visitor, accept without "the Visitor?" Maybe it's an attempt to re-tell the same story, accept a little different this time? As Tim Burton once said about his version of "Planet of the Apes": it's a "re-imaging" of the original.

There we were lamenting the potential for a Visitor movie in one thread, and here it is staring us in the face. LOL!!!

Hmmmmmmm [scratching chin]... wonder if the cast has been chosen yet? ;o)

That's what I was thinking too, but I didn't want to start the topic in the Visitor conference to avoid raising hopes! There doesn't seem to be any names attached so far to the cast.

I think we all did, Rick, but until the visitor 'authorities' (namely Agent Pat and Kefla) speak, we are forbidden to make any such correlations

;)

You know, the one where Alec is strapped to the chair with the headgear on, watching the "cinys" undergoing his treatment. aaaaaaaaaahhhhhh aaaaAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH Turn it off! Get me something to be sick in!

To me it sounds like a mixture of at least 2 former projects... The Visitor and ID4... ;-)
