Okay folks PeeYoo has done it again. They have a 'marketing preferences' when you sign up. Basically it's a list of how much spam do you want. I'm sure most people picked 'no' to most of the options. Guess what? PeeYoo decided to change them all to "yes" for you!

Here's what you do:

go to http://groups.yahoo.com

Sign in if necessary.
Click the "my groups" link.
In the upper right corner of the page, there are a few links. One says "Account Info". Click it.

You will see your profile basically. Now, almost hidden in the middle of the page, is a link to "Change Marketing Preferences". Click that.

You will see all these 'spam acceptances' set to "yes"! Unbelievable! Set them all back to "no" then click the "save changes" button.

PeeYoo really gets my goad... (this was only the first of two more things today that has driven my hatred of them up).

Btw, this affects everyone on the 'holics mailing list! So go and change it, or be spammed...

Thanks for the warning, Fungus - and for the explicit instructions

I was wondering why my mailbox suddenly filled with junk.

A sure sign of a company about to go tits up. They've increased their ads, charging for their search engine listings, rumoured to start a pay-for-service for their other stuff, etc.

If any of ya own shares in 'em, I'd sell out now! hehehe

Ya know, I don't mind companies using ad banners etc in order to help build some revenue. Afterall at one time, Centropolis had ad-banners and I'm sure we did our part to help.

But, have ya'll noticed the tiny 'content' real-estate lately at some sites? A good chunk of that is now devoted to skyscraper ads, and popups and pop-unders.. jeez..

Plus, I'm not too happy how Warner harvested my "lost (at) planetjag.com" email.

As for Yahoo -- money talks. I remember when they were 'underground' -- sad to see that corporate-brainwashing has set in.

-=JAG!
