You was admiring the Flash Intro for the newly created Electric Entertainment website, a couple of weeks ago, when I got a call from my Aunt. Her house was STRUCK by lightning, and sadly burned severely. Total loss I believe. They had just left to go visit some friends, when it happened. The only casualty was their mutant cat (Six toes) who unfortunately got....well not much was left...
Anyway they are doing fine, and are in good spirits. After all it is only material stuff. They have each other and LUCKILY the insurance to pay for it all.
I'm glad when there are happy endings!!

*whew*!!!!

Too bad about the poor cat though. :-(

I wish somethin like that would happen to me. Heck, I could only come out AHEAD if I collected on insurance. >:-P

Cats are magnetic, they can't get away from lightning. one ZAP and it's toasted furball...

well, not 100% sure on the lightning, but they are very electrostatic. One of my cats is very mushy, and on certain nights she would freak out, because everytime she got near things, Zap! (including me)

That explains your magnetic personality, Mr. Fungus!
I recall boating down the Ashley River one day and getting caught in a thunderstorm. We were making a mad dash back to the landing, plowing through the swells, when (speaking of positive charges) all the hair on our arms and back of our necks started standing straight up and tingling, when KA-WHOOM, a big bolt slammed into the water right in front of us. Talk about saying some quick words of thanks and scooting back under a bridge and hanging on till it all passed! Whoa! gives me chills just to think about it.
I know a fella who has actually been struck by lightning 3, yes, 3 times! Not direct hits, but glances; from a house to him, a car to him etc. His eyes bug a tad, but he's a good guy. We were exchanging gag gifts and I threw in a box a couple of old rusty horseshoes, an old doorknob, some miscellaneous wire and fence parts,(and a nice crab ashtray, so he wouldn't think I was too rotten)He liked to crab and shrimp. Then I hunted through some archived National Geographics for some excellent photos of lightning and wrapped the box with that. It was a hoot!
