Lisa,

I came up with nothing for naming the turtle.. Guess I'll be in trouble when I have kids. :oP

But it got me to think about what 'cities' ya'll tend to like by name? Here's my top 3 in no really particular order.

Vacasville = translates to Cows ville (CA)

Laguna Niguel = translates to Lagoon Niguel (CA)

..and my all time favorite..

Boca Raton = translates to Rats Mouth (FL)

-=JAG!

PS: Interesting Trivia -- Didn't know this.. but, apparently "Centropolis" actually exists... Centropolis, KS -- and looks like a street in MO is named Centropolis... veeerry eeeee-nteresting... Check it out: www.mapquest.com -- just type in Centropolis for the city..

We have no life. >:-P

Hey, you could always find LOVE in Saskatchewan. BIGGAR is always better. If if you're really really hungry you could nibble on a MOOSE JAW, and if you get thirsty, you can DRINKWATER. For dessert, have some SASKATOON berry pie which you would CUT(with a)KNIFE. Then wash your hands off in the SWIFT CURRENT. Don't forget to wash your ELBOW and your EYEBROW too! But don't leave the water running and the soap dripping, or pretty soon you'd have a FOAM LAKE.

Mebbe Goosie could go visit TURTLEFORD to find a name for her new buddy?

Or visit Goose Creek on the way to Moncks Corner? Stop in for a cold one at the Hoggly Woggly? The best I've heard is when town council was (as legend goes) deciding a name for a small town near Blowing Rock. Hours went by, one fella reared back and yawned " Aho!" There you have it.

Or drive by BRAVEHEART road on the way to THE PATRIOT's pointe. Can't forget those two!

As well it should be, Auric :]

hey, here's another hilarious one:

New York!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh wait, it wasn't funny...

Actually, there are a lot of king-ly places in New York. Kings Point, Kings Beach, Kingsbury, but to get to the city, they'd all have to go thru QUEENS! :]

Just had a similar conversation with someone two days ago. Some dude said God must be a woman because the Greek word for Holy Spirit was in the feminine tense. Uh huh. Ok, who ever said the Greeks knew God best?

You know me... always popping off so I replied, and the Spanish word for underwear is a food item in Italian. The Apache word for trusted friend means horse poopy in Arapaho. Then there is the whole "Coke Adds Life" fiasco.

It's funny how we pick a beautiful word to name something. Like Buena Vista, California. "Nice View" California. Hahahaha!! Palo Alto = Tall Tree. La Honda = The Sling. Laguna Salada = Salty Lagoon.
San Jose=Saint Joseph. San Bernardino=Saint Bernard.

LOL

I woulda Jag, but somehow, Saint Bernards just don't bring the whole ARROOOOOOOO picture to mind. ;-) (I was just commenting on San Bernardino or whatever the heck that dogtown is named. *giggle*)

Well I don't know about the Miata.. but "Mensa" which is known to house the great, best, most acute intelligent individuals out there, means "stupid" in the feminine sense -- in Spanish. :oP

-=JAG!

PS: To Sher, ya'r excused this time, but don't let it happen again. :oP We can *Schmack* too. Went to the local bookstore and found.. "Schmacking for dummies".

I caught a "la truite" in "La Tuche" once. They were logging a lot there and floating them down the river. I tried my hand at imitating Paul Bunyan and walking across them. It was OK as long as they were large like 12" in diameter, but when you got down to a 7" or so diameter, they sunk. Had to scramble out - cold water up there.
