ok...for a lot of us in differing parts of the country and world, even if in America The Visitor is on, it may not be on for all, or even all of America...so here is my idea....

How about we plan our own marathon? I mean, don't most of us have the shows on tape? Looks around shily not knowing if this is ok....Perhaps if we can get a chatroom up and running, we can have those chats of old as well. Just an idea. We could even have our own sheduled screening of other Centro movies, and then discuss later, or what ever.

Maurine

If they dont have time at electric i can add a irc chat to my domain... Make it electric.realityengine.net or something. Ill just wait for the go ahead from the guys at electric. They seem to be real busy right now though so that may be a while=)

Or we could set one up on Centropoholics.com ;-) Same server as Electric.

Just a few random thoughts about chat rooms vs. bbs's...

Let me first say that I think a functioning chat room here would be fab. (It's an awesome place to meet Dean LOL.) But, while chat rooms are wonderful places for informality and camaraderie, they don't seem to be very conducive for in-depth discussion of narrow topics such as the events or characters of a single show. Everybody comes in with their own agendas and specific interests, which makes it extremely difficult to stay focused on one discussion point for very long. And more involved points don't flow very well if they require more than a sentence or two of background information or explanation. People get bored and move the discussion along. Or worse - they feel left out because they don't have anything to say. I've seen this happen many times with The Visitor chats and it can be quite frustrating for everybody involved. Also, choosing an appropriate chat time and day that fits everybody's schedule has been difficult since we have folks from all over the world who would like to participate.

I do love Maureen's idea of a sort of scheduled bbs discussion however. We could choose to watch a movie (or an episode in the case of The Visitor) over a weekend for example, and then everybody can comment on the bbs about what interested them, pet peeves or otherwise. [grin] This gives folks more time to coalesce their ideas and present them more fluidly. It also gives us a chance to run the bloody spel chek over everything before our ideas go "live" LOL! Finally, a more permanent record of the discussion is saved on the bbs, rather than circulating around a chat transcript to all participants.

Pros and cons. Just something to think about...

Looks around shily not knowing if this is ok....

Yeah, I wonder that too. Are the powers that be OK with the fact that we have video tapes? LOL, I'd gladly turn mine in for the entire series on DVD - ;-) Or even official videotapes of the show.
Jen:
Perhaps if we can get a chatroom up and running, we can have those chats of old as well. Just an idea.

I do miss the chat room, too, even though I didn't use it often. But for the last year and more, there was little actual discussion of The Visitor or other Centropolis projects. Pat may be right - that the medium of a chat room doesn't promote good discussion.

Hey, bottom line, it's a thrill just to hear interest in watching The Visitor and in sharing our reactions to the show. IMO, Go for it.

My main reason for this post is that I often don't feel like commenting on these threads, cause the shows are not fresh on my mind..I was thinking of simply a planned viewing of tapes and shows, even along Pats idea of just using the message boards...

Perhaps we could do both, an indepth discussion on the boards, and a more informal chat afterwards....any other ideas?

Maurine

I'll confess that I have not yet watched Pilot this weekend but could easily do so. To all who posted in this thread, are we still interested in watching the first Visitor episode and posting discussion here?

Yes, but alas, I have not watched it yet either. Got my mom visiting from FL and the SO is home. But I *do* wish to partake in the discussion. Maybe I'll break away and watch it this afternoon when nobody's lookin' LOL
